I’m going to call this Tolle’s simple technique, because it’s based on a quote from Eckhart Tolle’s excellent book: ‘The Power of Now – A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment’. But the concept itself is timeless. From page 111:
‘Now let your spiritual practice be this: as you go about your life, don’t give 100% of your attention to the external world and to your mind. Keep some within.’
I will stop there as that is the essential element of the lesson. We don’t need more than that. The search for more is another escape from ‘what is’. Plus, copyright laws are really confusing to me.
On a personal level, when Eckhart was a nobody and first starting to write articles for the Common Ground magazine here in Vancouver BC, I was reading his articles and thinking… wow… this guy is smart… I should go and talk to him. But I got busy with other things. Next thing I know he’s on Oprah Winfrey and I think…. I really should have gone to talk to him! But we don’t need to… we’ve got his books, into which he’s captured the core of his discoveries. Thank you Eckhart!
Are you doing it? Feel the energy in your hands, your feet, your body. Where is your mind right now? It’s not about climbing Mt. Everest. It’s about lifting your foot a thousand times a day over a pebble.
